Types of Financial Aid

You should apply for financial aid every year, even if you think you will not qualify. There are many factors affecting eligibility for financial aid such as a sibling or parent attending college, a job change, or if a student becomes independent from their parents.

Government Aid

In order to be considered for government aid, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. Even though the 08-09 FAFSA is available until June 30, 2009, most schools have deadlines that come much earlier. Try to complete you FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 and be sure to follow up with your financial aid office. Your EOC Coordinator can assist you with the FAFSA and help you meet deadlines set forth by the financial aid office. Call today for your appointment.

You can electronically sign your FAFSA by applying for a FAFSA pin. Follow the instructions below to get your pin.

Scholarships

Scholarships are forms of aid that help students pay for their education. Scholarships do not have to be repaid. Generally, scholarships are awarded to students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. There are also scholarships available to students that are interested in particular fields of study, who are members of underrepresented groups, who live in certain areas of the country, or who demonstrate financial aid. Check with your EOC Coordinator for a list of local scholarships available. The websites listed below are free scholarship search engines.
